Incoming Trump Administration Aims for Sustainable Russia–Ukraine Agreement
The incoming Trump administration is committed to achieving a durable agreement between Russia and Ukraine, with President-elect Donald Trump intent on halting violence and establishing a fair and lasting peace. This was revealed by the soon-to-be U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine, Kurt Volker, in an interview with Fox Business.
Volker emphasized that Trump’s top priority in national security is to stop the bloodshed and bring peace. "But he wants a just and enduring peace, not just a quick fix," he noted, adding that past peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine have notoriously failed.
The President-elect understands the importance of Cordial relations with both U.S. allies and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Volker highlighted. He believes that Trump can resolve the situation and will do so in a fairly short period.
