Trump Plans Meeting with Putin; Ukraine Awaits U.S. Dialogue

In a recent address to Republican governors, outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump revealed plans for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. While details on the timing and location remain scarce, both leaders have expressed readiness for the encounter.

"We don’t find anything new in this, as Trump has spoken about such plans before," said Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko. He reiterated Ukraine’s stance, seeking a full-scale war resolution that is fair and just. Notably, Trump has also shown determination to end the conflict.

Nikolenko emphasized the significance of an upcoming meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlighting the strategic importance of U.S.-Ukraine cooperation. He confirmed that high-level talks are being prepared immediately following the U.S. presidential inauguration.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Putin’s readiness to meet with Trump, stating, "No conditions are required for this." The Russian leader has been open to dialogue, with preparations for the meeting reportedly underway.

As the world awaits details on the Trump-Putin summit, Ukraine looks forward to advancing its relationship with the incoming U.S. administration.
