U.S. President Trump Issues Final Warning to Hamas Over Hostage Situation

In a stark warning, newly appointed U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded that Hamas release all hostages by his inauguration day on January 20. Trump, who took office after a contentious election, warned that if this matter is not resolved, it could push the Middle East towards askog, with hostile repercussions for all parties involved.

"I don’t want to see our soldiers, our angels being held hostage," Trump said during a press conference, his voice laced with urgency. "I want them back now. They should have been returned long ago. If not, the situation will deteriorate further."

The stark warning comes amidst ongoing negotiations for the release of American hostages. Earlier, a local official revealed that Hamas has agreed to release the remaining American hostages, numbering around 100, including overseas citizens. However, negotiations are currently at a stalemate, with the deadline set by Trump looming large.

Trump’s warning has heightened tensions and raised concerns among the families of the hostages, who have been pushing for their loved ones’ immediate return. The repercussions of Trump’s ultimatum remain unclear, but it’s apparent that the new U.S. administration is eager to swiftly resolve this issue.

This development comes in the aftermath of Israel‘s Operation Guardian of the Walls, which began on May 10, 2021, when Israeli forces launched airstrikes on Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip. The operation led to the capture of 251 people, including several foreign nationals, by Hamas. Most of the captives have since been released, but around 100 remain in detention.
