Austrian authorities have confirmed three fatalities after a series of lawines struck the alpine region, with a German tourist among the victims. The incidents occurred in the province of Tirol, leaving two Austrians and one German dead.

The first lawine struck near the skiing area of Vierschach, claiming the life of a 54-year-old German national. In another incident, two Austrian snowboarders lost their lives while descending off-piste near the town of Obertilliach.

The intense snowfall and high avalanche risk have prompted Austrian authorities to issue a Level 4 warning, the highest of its kind, in certain regions. Emergency services repeatedly warned inhabitants and tourists to avoid avalanche-risk areas.

Similar weather conditions have also triggered avalanches in neighboring countries. In Switzerland, a skier was severely injured, and France reported several slides on its mountainous sides.

Despite the white Christmas that brought joy to winter enthusiasts, the severe weather conditions have turned deadly. Experts urge caution and adherence to safety guidelines, especially in out-of-bounds areas.
