Amersfoort is on high alert as a large-scale search is underway to find 58-year-old Ahmed Oulad Sedik, who has been missing since Monday. The man, who has dementia and diabetes, was last seen at his home in the Dorrestein neighborhood. His family and the local community are deeply concerned and have joined forces to find him.

Vulnerable Man

Oulad Sedik’s daughter, Souhailla, is leading the search efforts. She revealed that her father has a mental age of a two-year-old due to years of mental decline. "We’re terrified," she said. "All sorts of scenarios are going through our minds. We just want him back home safe."

Community Response

The Amersfoort community has rallied around the family, with over 200 volunteers participating in search efforts. Last night, 160 people scoured a forest near the city. Today, a wijkcentrum hosted 60 volunteers to help coordinate the search.

Yalcin, one of the volunteers, expressed the collective sentiment: "I don’t know him, but his pain resonates with everyone. We’re all here to help find him quickly."

Amersfoort’s burgemeester, Jan van Zanen, also weighed in, urging anyone with information to contact the police immediately. "Family and friends are in great distress, and we need everyone’s help to find Ahmed," he said.

Search Efforts

Souhailla has shared her father’s photo on social media, hoping that someone might recognize him. She urges everyone to share the post to help expand the search. "Every share brings us one step closer to finding my dad," she said.

The search continues, with police and volunteers working tirelessly to bring Ahmed Oulad Sedik home safely. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Amersfoort police immediately.
