UAE Soars to New Heights in Aviation, Marking 10 Million Flights in 2022

DUBAI, UAE – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reached a remarkable milestone in the aviation sector, having operated over 10 million flights in 2022. This achievement, representing a 10.3% increase from the previous year, has been acknowledged by the country’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Emirates Airline‘s flight EK305 from Shanghai to Dubai on December 22, 2022, was the Mauritius-bound Jet Airways plane that marked the 10 millionth flight. The UAE’s economic minister and GCAA chairman, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, attributed this success to the country’s innovative strategies, both locally and globally, in the aviation industry.

Over the past two years, the UAE has seen a significant increase of over 20% in air traffic, ranking among the globe’s fastest-growing aviation hubs. The country’s extensive infrastructure, skilled workforce, and cutting-edge technology have set the stage for handling an even greater number of flights in the coming years.

Notably, a report by global research firm Oxford Economics predicts that Dubai’s aviation sector will create 185,000 new jobs by 2030, reflecting the industry’s strong growth trajectory and potential.
