Ukrainian Forces Foil Russian Attempt to Expand Beachhead on Left Bank of Oskol River

In a decisive move, Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully thwarted a Russian attempt to widen their foothold on the left bank of the Oskol River, ending the siege attempt near the town of Makarivka. The news was revealed by the operational-strategic group "Hortitsia", shared via Telegram.

On December 23, amidst heavy rain and fog, the enemy tried to reinforce their positions on the left bank of the Oskol River. The offensive occurred in two waves, lasting nearly the entire day. Through coordinated efforts, Ukrainian units repelled the Russian attack, destroying enemy equipment in the process.

The aftermath resulted in the destruction of 12 units of enemy armored vehicles. This included one BMP-2 and two tanks completely annihilated, while eight BMP-2s and one tank were severely damaged. Additionally, 18 Russian soldiers were eliminated, and six others were injured.

Units from the Assault Brigade "Achilles", 92nd Assault Brigade named after Ivan Sirko, Presidential Brigade "Buivi", and the 205th Battalion, 241st Brigade were instrumental in this successful defense.

Russian Attempt to Expand Beachhead on Oskol River: Latest Developments

Russia’s persistent efforts to establish a foothold on the west bank of the Oskol River remain undeterred. Ongoing efforts to breach Ukrainian defenses have led to a dynamic situation in the region.

On November 25, the monitoring project DeepState reported that Russian troops had successfully crossed the Oskol River south of the village of Novomlynsk, establishing a beachhead on the western side.

On December 3, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that Ukrainian forces had successfully dislodged the enemy from their newly established beachhead near the village of Novomlynsk in the Kharkiv region.
