The official exchange rate for January 8, 2025, has been set at 42.2297 Ukrainian Hryvnias (UAH) per 1 US Dollar, marking an increase of 0.0338 UAH from the previous day. This latest figure surpasses the previous record of 42.1959 UAH per dollar, set on January 7, 2024.
The euro has also seen fluctuations, with the official exchange rate now standing at 43.8767 UAH per 1 Euro, a decrease of 0.0324 UAH from the previous day.
On the interbank market, the dollar’s value has risen by 7 kopecks, reaching 42.30-42.33 UAH per dollar in purchase and sale transactions. Meanwhile, the cash market has maintained its rate at 42.70 UAH per dollar.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has attributed the recent currency fluctuations to a significant increase in demand for foreign currency in December 2024, driven by growing government expenditures. In response, the NBU increased its net foreign currency sales to $5.3 billion and raised its key policy rate to 13.5% to ensure stability in the foreign exchange market and gradually reduce inflation to its 5% target.
