Title: Former US Envoy Volker: Ukraine May Have to Concede Territory in Peace Deal
American diplomat and former US special representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, has expressed that Ukraine might have to make territorial concessions to Russia as part of a potential peace agreement. In an interview with LIGA.net, Volker stated, "Unfortunately, I think we’re likely heading that way… No one recognizes Russian occupation, but we’ll certainly see commitments or understandings that Ukraine won’t get it back through military means."
Volker emphasized the need to pursue de-occupation through other means, acknowledging Russia’s continued resistance and occupation. He noted that allies impose sanctions on Russia, which, while hindering Moscow, also affects Ukrainians living on occupied territories. Volker drew a parallel between this situation and post-WWII Germany, where Western and Eastern sectors had vastly different fates until reunification.
