Headline: Ukraine‘s Mobilization Law Bolsters Armed Forces, but Changes Likely as Situation Evolves

Article:

Ukraine’s recent law on mobilization has significantly strengthened its Armed Forces, but changes to the legislation are still possible as the security situation continues to evolve. This was stated by Alexander Zavitneвич, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, in an interview with ArmyInform.

Zavitneвич reported that since the law came into force, the number of mobilized personnel has increased, and millions of military-aged men have had their military records updated through the military registration and enlistment offices (MREOs) and the ‘Reserve+’ mobile application. He noted that while the law has brought about several positive changes, it is not set in stone and could be amended based on developments on the battlefield, initiatives from the Ministry of Defense and General Staff, and proposals from parliamentarians.

The law, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in April, introduced significant changes to Ukraine’s mobilization and military service systems. Meanwhile, the country’s Human Rights Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, has reported a decrease in cases of physical abuse during mobilization.
