Russians Repel Ukrainian Drone Swarm in Rostov Region
Russian air defenses intercepted an influx of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Rostov region late on December 23, according to acting governor Yuri Slysar. In an update on his Telegram channel, Slysar stated that eight drones were shot down near the city of Millerovo, where a military airstrip is situated.
Concurrently, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that nine Ukrainian drones were downed over the Rostov region during the same evening. Subsequently, the ministry reported that two more drones were eliminated above the Azov Sea’s waters.
Unverified video footage purportedly depicting the aerial engagement has begun circulating through local social media platforms. fortunately, the acting governor confirmed there have been no reported injuries or damage caused by the incident. Slysisar advised that "information regarding ground consequences is being clarified. Air defense systems and mobile fire groups continue to repel the assault."
Yesterday, Slysar had announced that a Ukrainian rocket was downed near Millerovo, while eight drones were intercepted in the Azov and Novooshersky districts, near the cities of Taganrog and Novocherkassk.
