In a shocking turn of events, the academic community of Universitas Jember (Unej) was left grief-stricken on Monday, December 23, 2024, following the tragic death of a Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) student. The third-semester student from the sociology department is believed to have ended his life by jumping from the eighth floor of the LP2M building.
The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred around 5:51 PM WIB. Police are currently investigating the motive behind the tragic act. The Forensic Science Team (Inafis) has already processed the scene, and the body has been taken to the Dr. Subandi University Hospital morgue in Jember.
As of Monday evening, Unej’s Public Relations office had not released an official statement regarding the incident. Further developments will be reported as soon as official confirmation is received.
