Minister Challenges PDIP’s Hasto to Produce Video of Alleged Corruption in High Places
In a recent development, Minister of Secretariat (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has responded to claims made by PDIP’s Secretary General, Hasto Kristiyanto, who has allegedly been in possession of a video showing corruption among high-ranking officials, threatening to release it soon. In a surprise turn of events, the Minister has entreated Hasto to present the video if it indeed exists.
"Oh yes, is there such a video? If it exists, please present it," Prasetyo said during an event at the Indonesia Arena GBK in Jakarta on Saturday (December 28, 2024). "Everything boils down to facts supported by law. It’s all about legal facts."
Earlier, PDI Perjuangan’s spokesperson, Guntur Romli, had defended Hasto from accusations of panicking after being named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Guntur found KPK’s current leadership to be questionable, implying that they were chosen under the influence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"Those who are currently overseeing the KPK are ‘ools’, choosing to ‘manipulate’ with someone else’s hand," Guntur told detikNews on Friday (December 27, 2024). He further noted that Jokowi still has significant influence over key political figures, stating, "Now, consider the public’s opinion. Take social media, for example. How deferential is Pak Prabowo to Jokowi?"
Guntur also mentioned that Hasto is in possession of several videos related to the ‘three periods’ controversy, which he claims will be released soon. Furthermore, he hinted at another video with explosive content, pertaining to former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, implying a scandal larger than the Watergate affair in the United States.
"If Hasto is indeed so loyal to his party and president, why doesn’t he just release the videos already?" Prasetyo responded to Guntur’s comments, challenging Hasto to produce the evidence he claims to have. "If there’s a video, present it. We’ll be waiting."
This latest exchange comes amidst ongoing speculation and debate surrounding the political landscape in Indonesia, with the upcoming presidential election in 2024 adding fuel to the fire. As the nation awaits Hasto’s next move, the question remains: what explosive revelations might these mysterious videos hold? Only time will tell.
