Title: Jilted Ex-Boyfriend Hires Hitman to Scald Ex-Girlfriend in Yogyakarta’s Brutal Acid Attack
YOGYAKARTA — In a shocking turn of events, two men have been arrested for carrying out a brutal acid attack against a 21-year-old female university student in Yogyakarta. The motive behind the attack, which occurred on Christmas Eve as the victim was heading to mass, was allegedly sparked by the jilted ex-boyfriend‘s desire for revenge.
The victim suffered severe burns on her face and upper body due to the virulent liquid being thrown at her. Police apprehended the perpetrators shortly after the incident, with the primary attacker identified as S, a 26-year-old from Kuningan, West Java.
Kompol MP Probo Satrio, Chief of the Yogyakarta Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, revealed that the mastermind behind the attack was B, a Geometry student from Ketapang, West Kalimantan. B, who was the victim’s former boyfriend, had been nursing a broken heart after their three-year relationship ended. In a misguided attempt to exact retribution, he hired S to carry out the acid attack.
"From our preliminary investigation, we discovered that B hired S to carry out the acid attack and paid him a sum of Rp7 million," Probo stated. B deceived S into believing the victim had caused him great distress by sleeping with his friend, despite being his girlfriend at the time. The communication between B and S was conducted solely via WhatsApp, with B leaving cash for S at designated locations to avoid direct contact.
The victim remains hospitalized, battling her injuries. Meanwhile, both perpetrators are in police custody as the investigation continues. This horrific incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that can arise from vengeful actions.
