Colorado’s Wayfarer has released “Perdition’s Crossing,” the band’s first new music since their widely acclaimed 2023 album American Gothic, featuring the distinctive vocals of David Eugene Edwards from 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand. According to the band, the single is available now on a limited 12-inch vinyl release through Vesperian and serves as the precursor to an eight-track studio album titled Riders of the Setting Sun, planned for a late 2026 release.

The new single steers Wayfarer into uncharted territory defined by dark, cinematic Americana that feels considerably more desolate than previous releases. According to the band, their creative path has long drawn inspiration from Denver Sound legends such as 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand. Collaborating directly with David Eugene Edwards represents a long-held ambition and sets a new direction for the expanding Wayfarer sound.
Recording for the track took place in Colorado. Behind the mixing board and production desk, the band worked with an established roster of personnel. Ben Chisholm of Chelsea Wolfe handled production duties, James Barone of Beach House engineered the sessions, Iver Sandoy of Enslaved mixed the track, and Alan Douches completed the mastering process. Alongside the audio release, director Brendan McGowan—known for his visual work with Tribulation and Imperial Triumphant—directed the accompanying music video.
Limited Vinyl Release Details
To accompany the single, Vesperian is issuing a strictly limited 12-inch maxi-single capped at 300 copies worldwide. According to the label, the release features black vinyl housed in a foldout sleeve containing lyrics, band commentary, and track-by-track notes. Graphic novelist Julian Brier contributed the artwork for the package.
Distribution is split geographically: 200 copies are allocated to the United States, while 100 copies are reserved exclusively for European buyers through the Vesperian webstore. Pre-orders launched on July 23, with physical delivery slated for mid-August. Wayfarer is scheduled to perform at this year’s Fire in the Mountains festival, where physical copies of the 12-inch maxi-single will be available directly at the Vesperian festival merchandise stand.
