Headline: Water Price Increase Hits Some Bulgarian Cities Hard as of January 1st
As of January 1st, 2025, the price of water has increased in several Bulgarian cities. The most significant hike occurred in Sliven, with a 19.8% increase, making a cubic meter of water cost 4.674 BGN, including VAT. In Silistra, the price rose by 6.2%, reaching 6.155 BGN per cubic meter, while in Razград, it increased by 2.7% to 6.259 BGN.
Residents in Smolyan face even higher water bills, with a 6.3% increase, pushing the cost to 5.71 BGN per cubic meter, including VAT. Notably, the price has surpassed 5 BGN per cubic meter in 11 cities: Burgas, Varna, Vratsa, Montana, Plevem, Ruse, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Turgovishte, Haskovo, and Yambol.
Meanwhile, some cities experienced a decrease in water prices. Dobrich witnessed a 14.2% drop, making a cubic meter cost 3.743 BGN, including VAT. Lovench saw a mere 0.4% decrease, totaling 4.879 BGN per cubic meter, while Haskovo decreased by 5.7%.
In Veliko Tarnovo, the price increased by 7.2% to 4.714 BGN per cubic meter, and in Vidin, it rose by 5.7% to 4.738 BGN per cubic meter.
