Bergen op Zoom Imposes Gathering Ban After Repeated Vandalism at Turkish Bakery
In response to recurring incidents of fireworks attacks, Bergen op Zoom’s Mayor Margo Mulder has implemented a gathering ban in the vicinity of the Turkish bakery ‘Asya’ at Ericalaan 49. This measure aims to prevent further escalations and ensure public safety.
Sunday evening’s incident resulted in a severe fire, which damaged the bakery and shattered windows. Despite the previous attack, another intense fireworks display took place in the area last night, instigating heightened tension and unrest within the community. In response, the local authorities have installed barriers around the bakery.
The gathering ban, effective until Thursday, January 2, midnight, encompasses the area bounded by Ericalaan, Gentiaanstraat, Esdoornstraat, Plataanstraat, Acacialaan, Beukstraat, and Vijverberg. Mayor Mulder hopes that this measure will deter further acts of violence and facilitate a peaceful resolution.
Authorities urge residents and visitors alike to comply with the ban and maintain peace within the affected zone. As the investigation into the incidents continues, local police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
