In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a 3-year-old girl lost her life after being fatally attacked by family dogs in Cincinnati, Ohio, just two days after Christmas. The victim, Kingsley Renee Wright, was visiting her relatives for the holidays when the tragic incident occurred.
Authorities from the Hamilton County have identified the girl and are currently investigating the case. In a distressing 911 call, Kingsley’s father reported the incident, stating, "I just woke up and my daughter is dead. There’s blood everywhere, I don’t understand what happened."
The father also expressed confusion, mentioning that the dogs were confined in cages at the time of the attack. "I wouldn’t have heard anything if it was my dogs," he told the 911 operator. Sadly, Kingsley succumbed to her grave injuries, as stated in her obituary.
Kingsley’s mother, Gina Smith, spoke to WLWT5, expressing her shock and confusion. "I had no idea my daughter was around dangerous dogs. I never would have allowed it," she said. Smith is seeking answers and information on how the attack happened.
Responding officers were instructed to turn off their body cameras due to the graphic nature of the child’s injuries. According to WLWT5, three dogs were removed from the residence and taken to Cincinnati Animal CARE, where they are currently under a mandatory 10-day quarantine due to bite protocols.
The mother revealed that Kingsley was visiting her family in the Roselawn neighborhood of Cincinnati during the holidays. However, she was unaware of the potential danger her daughter faced. Kingsley’s stepfather, Josh Justice, also shared his concerns with WLWT5. "Those dogs weigh over 45 kg (100 lbs). Did they accidentally sit on her and then start attacking? Why did they do that? She was just a baby sleeping on the sofa," he questioned.
Emergency calls suggest that the dogs involved were of the Bull Terrier breed. The exact circumstances surrounding the attack are still under investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support the family during this difficult time, having raised over $1,300 so far. Funeral services will be arranged by Brown Funeral Home in Wilmington.
