Yaga Surpasses The Walking Dead Records on AMC+
The supernatural drama series YAGA has delivered the No. 1 exclusive series launch in AMC+ history, AMC has revealed, outperforming every title from the network’s flagship zombie franchise since the streaming platform launched.
Premiering at the end of October, the series secured record viewership and subscriber acquisition for the streaming service. The project reimagines the traditional Baba Yaga folklore and features a cast that includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo, and Hudson Williams.
Breaking Walking Dead Launch Records
YAGA surpassed the previous benchmark set by The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which held the record for the streamer’s biggest launch following its debut in 2024. Before that record, consecutive spinoffs held the top spot on the platform.
In summer 2023, The Walking Dead: Dead City, starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, set the initial record for an exclusive series launch on AMC+. That mark was broken just months later in September 2023 by The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, featuring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira later reclaimed the top spot with The Ones Who Live in early 2024.
Future Franchise Prospects on AMC+
Subsequent seasons of existing spinoffs have not matched the launch figures set by initial premieres, leaving open the question of whether future franchise installments can reclaim the network record. AMC maintains plans for additional Walking Dead offshoots as the property remains a central pillar of its programming.
For years, fans have been calling for one final Walking Dead spinoff that would bring the casts of all three newer offshoots back together.
