Castilla y León surpasses 650,000 Flu Vaccine Doses; 9,269 RSV Inoculations for Children
In a concerted effort to safeguard public health, the regional government of Castilla y León has administered a total of 651,391 influenza vaccine doses, with Valladolid taking the lead in provincial distribution. This significant milestone in the region’s immunization drive underscores the commitment to prevent the spread of seasonal flu.
Valladolid heads the list with 141,786 doses administered, closely followed by León with 116,127, and Salamanca with 92,254. The province of Zamora has seen 50,562 vaccinations thus far.
Moreover, the autonomous community maintains an active campaign to protect against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which can cause serious diseases like bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children. With 9,269 doses of the monoclonal antibody nirsevimab administered, the region has achieved a 67.7% coverage rate against the initial 13,700 doses procured.
This RSV immunization initiative targets children born between April 2024 and March 2025, as well as those with underlying health conditions who require a second dose in their second year of life. Once again, Valladolid leads in inoculations with 2,255 doses, trailed by Burgos (1,463) and León (1,448). Zamora has administered 491 doses.
Among the various target groups, those at risk due to age have received the highest number of vaccinations, totaling 303,417 doses. Individuals in institutional care follow with 39,768 doses, and those with pre-existing conditions come in third with 34,149 doses. Additionally, 7,251 healthcare professionals and 6,469 workers in the socio-sanitary sector have been vaccinated.
