Myrthe’s team, ‘Buurman en Buurman,’ was established as a tribute to the late Willem de Jong, a man and father-in-law who unfortunately lost his battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Willem’s buurman, Maykel Simonis, continues to wage his own fight against this relentless disease.
Understanding ALS
ALS, often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a merciless condition that gradually attacks the body’s muscle-control functions.
