Headline: Venezuela Accuses Argentine Gendarme of Assassination Plot, Argentina Denies Claims
Maduro: Argentina Involved in ‘Violent Plan’ Against Venezuela
CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has publicly accused an Argentine gendarme, Nahuel Gallo, of attempting to assassinate Vice President Delcy Rodríguez. Maduro made the allegation during a broadcast by the state television station.
Gallo, purportedly arrived in Venezuela with sinister intentions, is currently in custody in Caracas. "He is not here to visit his alleged girlfriend," Maduro stated humorously, referring to Gallo’s supposed partner in the country. "The Argentine government is involved in the violent plans to disrupt peace in Venezuela," Maduro asserted.
This latest revelation escalates the diplomatic tensions between Argentina and Venezuela, following remarks by Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, who speculated that Gallo’s visit had reconnaissance objectives.
Gallo, 33, a gendarme from Mendoza, had entered Venezuela on December 8, 2024, via Colombia. He claimed to be visiting his wife and son in Caracas. However, authorities suspect he was plotting destabilizing actions under the guise of a family visit.
Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich swiftly responded on Twitter: "Listen carefully, Maduro: your lies won’t protect you. Accusing Nahuel Gallo without evidence of a preposterous plot only exposes your murderous regime’s desperation, which is nearing its end. There are no words to respond to a dictator’s delirium. Argentina won’t tolerate this outrage any longer."
As tensions rise, the international community awaits further developments in the dispute between Argentina and Venezuela.
