A total of 12,029 examinees took the test nationwide, with 675 candidates completing their examinations at the University of Santo Tomas testing center. Families, supporters, and student volunteers converged outside the exit gates early in the day, turning the testing venue into a hub of banners, placards, balloons, and coordinated cheering as test-takers emerged from the compound.
Student Bar Operations and Long-Hour Vigils at UST
Student volunteers from law institutions maintained a constant presence outside the testing venue for more than half a day. Rachelyn Mae Valenzuela, a 26-year-old third-year law student, stated that roughly a dozen members of the San Beda College-Alabang centralized bar operations kept vigil outside the exit for over 12 hours. “We wanted to show our support to motivate and inspire them,” Valenzuela said in an interview with Inquirer, adding that the supporters aimed to honor four years of academic endurance. “We know that they worked hard since the first year. These are the fruits of their efforts for four years—manifesting that they will be Bedan lawyers come 2027.”
Similarly, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) deployed a contingent of approximately 20 centralized bar operations members who waited outside the testing location for more than 15 hours. Mariekei Sta. Maria, a second-year law student from PUP, explained the rationale behind the extended wait to Inquirer, stating they wanted “to show our bar takers that bar examination is not just their journey but the entire PUP College of Law community.”
Family Surprises and Personal Support Networks
Beyond institutional student groups, immediate family members played a visible role in greeting the candidates. Janine Cea, 28, accompanied by her mother and two other home companions, wore matching blue T-shirts bearing the printed phrase “JESPER IS MY LAWYER.” Cea stated that the family planned the shirts as a surprise for her 26-year-old younger brother, Jesper, deliberately withholding the garments when they initially sent him off to the examination site earlier that morning.
Next Steps in the 2026 Bar Examinations
Following the completion of the opening test, the remaining portions of the 2026 bar examinations are scheduled to proceed on Sept. 9 and Sept. 13, 2026. Candidates who successfully navigate all three test days could face further waiting periods as grading results are processed by the Supreme Court, while student support groups and families may return to the testing venues for subsequent exit dates.
