Culiacán Shootout: Armed Men Target Luxury Apartments in Montebello
In a brazen incident, armed men targeted the exclusive Montebello housing estate in the southern part of Culiacán, Sinaloa, damaging several luxury apartments. The attack, which involved two SUVs, saw the assailants open fire on a building, shattering windows and causing alarm among residents.
Emergency services and both the Mexican Army and local police were deployed to the scene on Cerro del Pirul street, but the perpetrators remained at large. This latest incident comes just two days after a wave of violence that saw 10 properties across various colonies and fraccionamientos in the city fall victim to shootings, vandalism, and even arson.
Peritiros (forensic investigators) from the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office scoured the area, collecting dozens of spent cartridge cases from automatic weapons. Despite the extensive damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Military personnel who responded to the incident conducted a thorough search of the building but found no signs of armed occupants. Authorities are now awaiting formal complaints from affected tenants.
This recent attack adds to a string of violent incidents in Culiacán over the past week. Between Monday and Tuesday, unidentified gunmen targeted ten homes, firing at them from outside and setting one ablaze after ransacking it.
As the city grapples with this surge in violence, authorities continue to investigate these incidents, putting public safety and the search for those responsible at the forefront.
