Legendary Italian Butcher to Headline Redbird’s Annual Beefsteak Event

Redbird and Vibiana are bringing the 11th edition of Beefsteak to Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, August 29. Starting at 7 p.m. at 114 East 2nd Street, the communal steak feast arrives as a double celebration, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the historic Vibiana building.

A Collaborative Feast at Vibiana

Chef Neal Fraser and chef Mary Sue Milliken are heading the evening’s culinary efforts. They aren’t alone. Cohosts Billy Harris, Eric Wareheim, Cort Cass, and Matt Selman join the lineup to oversee a night defined by cocktails, wine, live entertainment, and towering platters of steak served family-style.

The Influence of Dario Cecchini

The event draws heavily from the traditions of 19th-century beef feasts in Florence and New York, where communal halls were used to serve massive quantities of meat. This heritage is embodied by Italian butcher Dario Cecchini. Renowned for his Tuscan butcher shop and expertise in whole-animal butchery, Cecchini serves as a primary draw for the evening.

VIP Access and Exclusive Offerings

Tickets are split into two tiers. General admission is priced at $350, while VIP admission costs $450. Those opting for the VIP experience gain early entry and exclusive access to food prepared specifically by Cecchini, offering a different culinary trajectory than the standard guest experience.

Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

The festivities serve a broader purpose beyond the plate. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit Regarding Her, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the growth of women-owned food and beverage businesses. Given the timing, attendees can also expect a heightened focus on Vibiana’s historic architecture as the venue marks its 150th year.
