PERNIK, BULGARIA — Perry Provincial Police reported three cases of domestic violence in the area over the holiday weekend, according to Ventzislav Alekov, spokesperson for the Regional Police Directorate (RPD) in Pernik, as cited by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
First Incident
A 41-year-old man was arrested for 24 hours on charges of assault and threats against a 38-year-old woman he lived with. The woman herself filed a complaint on December 25, stating that she had been beaten and threatened by her partner.
Second Incident
On December 26, medical staff at Pernik’s Emergency Medical Center reported a 28-year-old woman from the nearby village of Mestrova who had been assaulted by her partner. The woman sustained minor injuries, and a 41-year-old man was subsequently arrested for 24 hours.
Third Incident
Also on December 26, police in Radomir received a report of a 56-year-old woman from the village of Stefanovo who had been assaulted by her 61-year-old husband. The woman suffered minor injuries, and the man was arrested for 24 hours.
