More VG readers have shared their Aurora borealis encounters on social media and the VG website. Kamilla Wehrmann from Stavanger was among those who managed to capture the mesmerizing spectacle:
We were just taking a short walk outside when suddenly we noticed the aurora. It was quite an unexpected and amazing sight.
Kamilla later took a few more trips outdoors to document the colorful Northern Lights.
In Uvdal, Buskerud, the Northern Lights have also been particularly intense, as reported by Line Andersen:
We had only planned a short walk outside, but then we noticed the aurora. It was quite a surprise and quite spectacular.
Expected aurora show in the near future
Aurora borealis is expected to be even more active in the coming years, with 2025 tipped to be a significant year for viewing opportunities. As the solar cycle approaches its peak, the frequency and intensity of geomagnetic storms are likely to increase, leading to more frequent and vibrant aurora displays.
