Headline: Severe Fire Engulfs Apartment Block in Lier, All Residents Safely Evacuated
In a dramatic turn of events, a fierce fire broke out in a four-story apartment building in Lier on Tuesday evening. As of now, there’s no risk of the fire spreading to nearby structures, confirmed local police.
"We’re dealing with a major fire on the scene," the police reported in their official log.
Fourteen individuals are registered as residents at the address, but not all were present at the time of the incident. Authorities confirmed at 21:20 that all individuals have been evacuated or accounted for. The building was fully engulfed in flames.
"I’m relieved that everyone has made it out of the buildings," expressed Lier municipality’s mayor, Kjetil Kivle, to Dagbladet. "However, it’s very tragic for the families involved, especially on the last day of the year."
The evacuees are being transported to Tollboden hotel in Drammen.
