Headline: Bulgaria‘s Interim PM: No Concerns About Ukraine Deal, Except Duration
Article:
Bulgaria’s interim Prime Minister, Dimitar Glavchev, has expressed confidence in the Ukraine agreement, with the exception of its 10-year duration. Speaking to journalists during a visit to the "Chaira" HPP, Glavchev cited a 1992 Constitutional Court ruling that defines the powers of the caretaker government within its timeframe. He emphasized the need for the National Assembly‘s approval on the matter.
The agreement, aimed at enhancing security cooperation, has faced resistance from Parliament Speaker, Natalia Kiseleva, who refused to include it on the parliamentary agenda. Meanwhile, Glavchev also addressed the state budget for next year, stating that despite initial assurances, the budget may not be approved by December 23. He suggested that lawmakers could have prevented this by rejecting the budget and allowing the government to propose a new law extending the previous budget. However, no such action was taken.
Glavchev expressed confidence in the budget’s expenditure, stating that efforts are being made to secure all achieved revenues and honor commitments made by others. He believes a source has been found to cover these expenses in the revenue side of the budget.
