Bulgarian Victim Dies in Head-On Collision Involving Italian Ambulance in Puglia
A tragic collision between a Bulgarian-registered car and an Italian ambulance has claimed the life of a fellow countryman on a regional road in Puglia. The incident occurred on the stretch between San Severo and Torremaggiore.
The ambulance, transporting an Italian woman who had been injured in a firecracker incident the night before Christmas, was carrying four medical personnel heading to a hospital at around 11 PM. Unclear circumstances led a Bulgarian driver of an "Audi" car to swerve into the ambulance’s path, resulting in both vehicles veering off the road and overturning onto the surrounding terrain. The impact proved fatal for the Bulgarian companion of the driver, who also sustained injuries. The medical staff in the ambulance suffered minor injuries.
Originally from the Foggia area, the two Bulgarians were working as seasonal farm laborers.
Intriguingly, a similar incident involving an ambulance and a car took place in Massa Carrara, where a severe collision caused the ambulance to crash into a wall, leading to the death of an 80-year-old patient onboard.
