Latest News: Russia Launches Grouped Missile Strike on Chernihiv Suburbs

ussian forces launched a grouped missile attack on the outskirts of Chernihiv on the evening of January 3. The city experienced at least three explosions, according to reports from 24 Channel citing the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.

Status of Injuries and Casualties

Sadly, the number of injured has increased as of January 4. According to the Head of the Regional Military Administration, Vячеслав Чаус, six people are injured, with five sustaining minor injuries and receiving medical assistance on-site. One person is currently hospitalized in stable condition.

Earlier, the Head of the Regional Military Administration reported that the enemy targeted the city with three ballistic missiles, likely "Iskander-M" type, striking residential areas on the outskirts of Chernihiv. The attack resulted in significant damage to several buildings.

The heinous act also claimed the life of 72-year-old Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor Alyaksandr Halенко.

Damage Assessment and Response

Glava of the regional administration, Dmitry Bryzinskyi, confirmed that two residential buildings were partially destroyed, and windows were damaged in ten more houses. Apart from the fatality, four people were injured in the attack.

Sunday’s aggression marked another bloody night for Ukraine, with nearly 100 drones attacking targets across the country. In the evening, Russia targeted the Kyiv region using Shahed drones, leading to the death of a truck driver and injuring four more individuals. Debris from the drones caused fires in residential areas, including the liquidation of a fire in a private house in the Darnytskyi district, with a woman sustaining injuries.

The ongoing conflict underscores the critical importance of international support and unity in standing against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
