In a separate incident that same night, a 47-year-old man from Tiel was severely injured after an fireworks device exploded. He later succumbed to his injuries, becoming the second fatality from fireworks-related incidents in Tiel that night. The severity of these incidents has sparked calls for a total ban on the sale of fireworks.
The municipality of Tiel, expressing its condolences to the families affected by these tragic events, has emphasized that safety should always be the top priority when handling fireworks. The temporary ban on fireworks in Tiel is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
