In a landmark case, a Ukrainian court has sentenced a woman and her husband to three years of prohibition from working with minors, according to a report from the country’s prosecution service. The couple was found guilty of producing and distributing child pornography, with the woman’s two young daughters—born in 2011 and 2013—being the primary victims.
The court also ruled in favor of a civil suit filed by the representatives of the minor victims, awarding them a total of 750,000 Ukrainian Hryvnias (approx. $28,000 USD).
According to the prosecution, the woman was the mastermind behind the operation. She recorded sexually explicit videos featuring herself and her daughters, with her husband actively participating and even sexually abusing the elder daughter. The content, which contained explicit images of the minors, was then distributed online.
The couple has been remanded in custody since their arrest. The identities of the victims have been withheld to protect their privacy.
This case underscores the growing concern surrounding child exploitation online and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting young and vulnerable individuals from such crimes. The Ukrainian authorities have stated that they remain committed to investigating and prosecuting anyone involved in these heinous acts.
