Polanco Shocks: Double Homicide in Upscale Neighborhood; Prominent figures found dead

The elite neighborhood of Polanco, known for its safety and high property values, was shaken by a gruesome discovery. Authorities found the lifeless bodies of two men inside a vehicle on Tres Picos Street in the upscale Que folders in Miguel Hidalgo. The incident occurred near the iconic Auditorio Nacional.

The discovery was made on December 23, when a concerned sibling of one of the victims tried to reach him but received no response. Upon visiting the residence located between Hegel and Lamartine streets, the sibling found the car with visible bloodstains and promptly alerted authorities.

The Secretariat of Public Security (SSC) responded, finding the first victim inside the car. Upon inspection of the vehicle, they discovered a second body hidden in the trunk, revealed to be the partner of the initial victim. Both bodies showed no signs of life, and preliminary information suggests they were bound and showed signs of violence, although this has not been officially confirmed.

The victims were identified as Enrique Esnal Dubernard, a 72-year-old man who received the Honorary Medal of Italian Merit in 1994, and Alejandro Ballina Ortiz, 49. According to journalist Carlos Jiménez (@C4jimenez), the incident does not appear to be a robbery, as their personal belongings were found at the scene. He stated that authorities suspect a personal issue as the motive.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) has opened an investigation for the crime of homicide. Forensic and criminalistic experts have been examining the scene, and detectives from the Special Investigation Agency (PDI) are in search of witnesses and CCTV footage to help elucidate the events.

In a neighborhood known for its tranquility and high-end properties, this double homicide has sent shockwaves, raising concerns about safety in what was once considered one of the city’s safest areas.
