Breaking: Police Hunt Driver After Car Crashes Through Graveyard Fence, Topples Tombstones in Eidsvoll

In a bizarre turn of events, a car reportedly plowed off the road, through a fence, and onto the grounds of Råholt Kirke in Eidsvoll, Akershus early Wednesday morning, leaving a trail of-toppled gravestones in its wake. The driver, however, appears to have vanished without a trace.

The incident, reported by Norway’s News Agency (NTB), occurred sometime before 4:29 AM on Wednesday, December 25. The car careened off the road, down an embankment, through a fence, and onto the consecrated ground, causing significant damage to several gravestones.

Upon arrival, police found the vehicle abandoned but no sign of the driver. In a statement released at 3:13 AM, Øst police district confirmed that there were no immediate indications that the driver had been injured. They have since launched a manhunt, deploying both regular patrol units and K9 units in an effort to locate the fleeing driver.

As of 4:24 AM, police confirmed that the driver remained at large and that an investigation had been launched. The full extent of the damage to the graves is yet to be assessed.
