Elderly Man Shoots Himself After Car Accident in Mexico City

In a shocking incident, a 71-year-old man resorted to drastic measures following a car accident in Mexico City’s Benito Juarez district. The elderly man, driving a yellow Pontiac, collided with another vehicle on Avenida Insurgentes Sur, near Calle de Pilares in the Noche Buena neighborhood.

The man, unable to reach an agreement with the other driver to repair the damage due to lack of insurance, took his own life at the scene. Police from the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana arrived to find the elderly man inside his car, bleeding from a head wound, and in possession of a firearm.

Paramedics who attended to the incident reported a gunshot wound to the forehead, with the projectile exiting through the back of his head. The man was subsequently rushed to Hospital Xoco under police custody, with his condition described as critical.
