Student Dies After Alleged Seizure During Environment Club Training Hike in Sanggabuana Mountains

A student from the University of Islam 45 (Unisma) in Bekasi has reportedly passed away following an alleged seizure while participating in a basic training program for the Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam (Mapala) environmental club in the Sanggabuana Mountains, Karawang. The incident occurred on Friday, December 27, 2024, at around 5:30 PM local time.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim appeared to be seizing while on a hiking trail near Pancuran Kejayaan, a popular waterfall and tourist attraction in Sanggabuana. Before losing consciousness, the student reportedly became aggressive and threw stones at the training program’s organizers.

Attempts to revive the student were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A nearby ranger and his team, who were performing research studies in the area, rushed to provide assistance but were unable to save the student’s life.

Local authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of death, but rumors suggest that the student may have been inflicted with a curse common to the region, as reported by the panitia diklatsar.

This is not the first time that unusual events have been reported in the Sanggabuana Mountains. Locals and hikers alike have shared accounts of mysterious phenomena and legends surrounding the scenic area, including three chilling myths that have been known to make one’s hair stand on end.
