Bandung, Indonesia – A UPI Student’s Tragic Discovery in Gymnastium
The police are still investigating the case of a UPI student, identified only by her initials A.M. (21), who was found dead with severe head injuries on the second floor of the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia’s (UPI) Gymnastium building in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday (26/12/2024) evening.
The student’s body was discovered by witnesses who were making a video assignment for their class. They later notified the Gymnastium’s management and the Sukasari Police. The corpse was subsequently transported to the Bhayangkara Sartika Asih Hospital in Bandung.
UPI officials confirmed the incident, stating that they are cooperating with the police to investigate the cause of the student’s death. "The incident is indeed true," said Professor Suhendra, Head of UPI’s Public Relations, "but we are still looking into the background and cause of the incident."
Preliminary investigations suggest that the student may have fallen from the second floor of the Gymnastium building. However, the police have yet to confirm the cause of death and are awaiting the results of an autopsy. The student’s family has been informed, and they are currently at the hospital.
The student, who hailed from Kampung Dayamekar, Cikalong, in Kabupaten Bandung Barat, was a beloved figure among her peers, known for her intelligence and charm. Her sudden demise has left her friends and mentors shocked and saddened.
The UPI community extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased student. The university has also organized counseling sessions for students and staff to help cope with the trauma of this tragic event.
