Flooding in Kuta, Bali: Roads and Homes Inundated Due to Heavy Rainfall

In the early hours of Sunday (22/12), heavy rainfall led to extensive flooding in several areas of Kuta, a subdistrict of Badung Regency, Bali. The high volume of rainfall over a prolonged period overwhelmed drains and causeways, leading to significant flooding in residential areas.
According to AKP I Ketut Sukadi, Head of the Public Relations Section of the Bali Provincial Police, the primary cause of the floods was the excessive and sustained rainfall. "The high rainfall intensity and duration have caused drains to overflow," he explained.
Flooding was reported in 12 locations throughout Kuta, including:
- Jalan Merdeka Raya, Kelurahan Kuta – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Praja Natha, Kuta – 30 cm water level
- Jalan Campuhan-Dewi Sri, Kelurahan Legian – 60 cm water level, with several homes and the main road affected
- Jalan Campuhan II, Kelurahan Legian – 60 cm water level, with the main road and nearby homes flooded
- Jalan Nakula, Gang Baik-baik, Kelurahan Seminyak – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Belong, Kelurahan Seminyak – 30 cm water level
- Jalan Sunset Road (opposite KFC), Kelurahan Seminyak – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Kunti II, Kelurahan Seminyak – 25 cm water level
- Jalan Dewi Sri (opposite BRI Bank), Kelurahan Legian – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Yudistira, Kelurahan Seminyak – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Dewi Sri II, Kelurahan Legian – 20 cm water level
- Jalan Dewi Sri II A, Kelurahan Legian – 20 cm water level
The Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Public Works and Housing Agency (PUPR) of Badung Regency swiftly deployed pump trucks to drain floodwater. They also coordinated with local police and military to manage traffic, monitor affected areas, and assist affected residents. No injuries or casualties were reported in connection with the floods.
