The No. 1 Florida Gators gymnastics team secured a victory over Auburn Friday night, finishing with a score of 197.100 to Auburn’s 167.700. Despite a challenging performance on the vault, the Gators rallied to remain undefeated in their 2025-26 campaign.
Early Dominance and a Difficult Vault Rotation
Florida began the meet strongly on uneven bars, led by Riley McCusker’s near-perfect score of 9.975 – the highest of the evening. Anya Pilgrim, Skye Blakely, and Selena Harris-Miranda each contributed scores of 9.925, giving the Gators an early lead of 0.475.
The vault rotation proved difficult for the Gators. Sophomore Ly Bui sustained a significant injury after colliding with the mat, and freshman Amelia Disidore was unable to stick her landing. This resulted in a team score of 48.600 on the vault, placing them behind Auburn at the halfway point of the meet.
Gators Respond and Secure Victory
Florida responded with strong performances on floor and beam. The Gators scored 49.425 on floor, highlighted by scores of 9.875 from Jayla Booker, Disidore, Ferris, and eMjae Frazier, as well as a 9.925 from Blakely. They followed this with a 49.450 on beam.
Despite the earlier setbacks, Danie Ferris and Harris-Miranda helped salvage the vault rotation, with Harris-Miranda achieving a meet-best 9.950 and Ferris scoring a 9.925. On beam, Blakely, Frazier, and Harris-Miranda all scored 9.000 or better.
Shifting National Rankings
Although victorious, Florida is expected to lose its No. 1 ranking in the Race to Nationals. Oklahoma posted an NCAA-best score of 198.425 against Georgia on Friday and will claim the top spot. UF will drop to third, tied with Alabama, while LSU is projected to move to No. 2.
The Gators will return to action on January 30 at 7:15 p.m. when they host Arkansas.
