Assassinated at a Festivity: President of Feria de San Mateo and Two More Killed in Cold Blood
Tragedy struck during the celebration of the Teopancalaquis festival in the San Mateo neighborhood of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, where gunmen opened fire on a crowded plaza, claiming the lives of three people and leaving two others wounded, including a minor.
President of Feria de San Mateo Assassinated
The main target of the ruthless attack was Martín Roberto Ramírez Ruiz, President of the Patronato de la Feria de San Mateo, at around 6:50 PM on Tuesday evening. Along with the president, a collaborator also lost their life, while a woman and a child were injured.
Witnesses reported a scene of chaos and panic as the gunmen opened fire, with attendees scattering in all directions amidst screams of desperation. Despite the efforts of paramedics from Protección Civil, the two men succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Operative Deployed to Capture Perpetrators
The Secretaría de Seguridad Pública of Guerrero swiftly deployed an inter-institutional operative, intensifying patrols and monitoring key areas of the city through the C4 video surveillance system. Authorities urged citizens to cooperate with police and follow their instructions.
Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda expressed outrage over the incident, vowing that the killers would not go unpunished. "I have requested a prompt and effective investigation from the Fiscalía General del Estado to ensure justice is served," she stated via social media.
The Fiscalía later confirmed that it was investigating the case under the charges of homicide and qualified injuries. Forensic personnel were dispatched to gather evidence from the scene.
