IDF Kills Hamas Commander Linked to Israeli Hostages

A Targeted Strike on the Gaza City Brigade

Adham Ibrahim Sha’aban Nasman, the operations head of Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency confirmed the death on Tuesday, identifying Nasman as a commander within the elite Nukhba Force and a central architect of the October 7 infiltration.

Architect of the October 7 Breach

Military intelligence places Nasman at the heart of the October 7 massacre. According to the joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet, he personally led the breach of the border fence that sent Gaza City Brigade fighters into Israeli territory. Beyond his field command, the military confirmed Nasman held several hostages in captivity, including Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrest, and Omri Miran.

Ziv Berman, one of the hostages identified by the military, responded to the news on social media. “Another piece of garbage [has been] sent to Hamas’s giant landfill in hell,” Berman wrote, adding, “I hope that the rest of [Nasman’s] friends that are unfortunately still alive will understand that their time will also come!” His post closed with “Am Yisrael Chai” and a note of thanks to the security forces.

From Battalion Command to Weaponry Logistics

Nasman’s ascent through Hamas’s ranks included stints as the intelligence officer for the Gaza City Brigade and commander of the Al-Shati Battalion. Even as the conflict intensified, he remained a logistical linchpin; the IDF reported that until his death, he was actively rebuilding the brigade’s military infrastructure. Recent intelligence suggested he was overseeing the training of new operatives and the distribution of weaponry to various battalions—a pattern of activity Israeli authorities labeled a direct violation of the ceasefire agreement.
