Rembang Sets Minimum Wage for 2025 at Rp2.236.168

The government of Rembang Regency has set the minimum wage (UMK) for 2025 at Rp2.236.168. This marks a 6.5% increase from the 2024 UMK, amounting to an additional Rp136.479.

The new UMK is outlined in Governor of Central Java‘s Decree No. 561/45/Year 2024, dated December 18, 2024, and will come into effect on January 1, 2025. It aligns with Minister of Manpower’s Regulation No. 16/Year 2024, which specifies a uniform 6.5% increase across all regencies/cities in Central Java.

"The increase is standard at 6.5%, no variations," stated Dwi Martopo, Head of the Rembang Regency Industry and Labor Department, in an interview at his office on Friday, December 20, 2024.

This UMK applies only to workers with less than a year of service, to ensure they are paid at or above the minimum threshold. Employers found violating this regulation may face penalties.

Meanwhile, the determination of the regency/city sectoral minimum wage (UMSK) for Rembang is still pending due to several factors that require further deliberation.

"We’re still discussing the UMSK," Martopo added.

Previously, Rembang Regent Abdul Hafidz stated that he could not approve the UMSK proposal due to the lack of clarity in provincial regulations and certification from the Central Java Provincial Government.

"Thus, the determination of the UMSK increase requires thorough study. However, once the regulations and certification are clear, we will promptly endorse the proposal," the regent affirmed.
