According to Westville SAPS communications officer Sergeant Zwelethu Khathi, the businessman was traveling from a shopping centre when a white Landcruiser pulled up alongside his vehicle at a traffic light. Individuals inside the Landcruiser opened fire multiple times before driving away. A murder case has been opened.
ALS paramedics responded to numerous calls reporting the shooting. Paramedics found the driver, believed to be in his 30s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, he was declared deceased at the scene.
