Pro Party Vows to Defend Causes Despite Government Unsupport

Amid rising tensions with libertarian allies of President Javier Milei, including a direct clash with Mauricio Macri, the party led by the ex-president has affirmed its commitment to defending its causes, even if the government does not support them. This declaration comes as discussions heat up regarding whether the once-aligned forces will face the 2025 legislative elections together or separately.

"Pro Party is preparing for a 2025 filled with challenges, resolute in its convictions," the party stated in a communiqué. "We will continue to defend the causes that represent us, even if the government does not accompany us. Because Pro Party does not stop. Because there’s Pro for the long run."

With Macri vacationing in Patagonia and key leaders grappling with pressure from the governing La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Pro’s communication team sent a New Year’s message to the Casa Rosada: "History isn’t written in a day," they warned.

Reflecting on the past, Pro underscored its role in contributing to reforms under the current administration: "Between 2015 and 2019, we fought many battles together, which we’re now fighting again. We’re proud of the Pro Party’s contribution this year, demonstrating our commitment to building a better future."

Cementing its stance against libertarian advances, Pro emphasized its unity and achievements: "Today, we stand firm; no governors or mayors have left the Pro Party, and our legislative bloc remains solid and united, driving deep changes like the Basic Law, backing key decrees, and helping to overcome the current crisis."

Undeterred by challenges, Pro expressed optimism for the future: "We know that Argentina’s needed change isn’t easy or swift, but it’s not impossible. This 2024 marked the start of a new path, refocusing our essential fights: combating mafias, achieving fiscal balance, and ending privileges hindering Argentina’s development."

As tensions with LLA persist, other Macrist voices have chimed in. The Jóvenes Pro Ciudad de Buenos Aires group shared a photo of Mauricio and Jorge Macri with the caption, "For a 2025 together and victorious. Respect the ranks." Pro Party clarified, "We’re preparing to compete in 2025, with or without LLA."

Despite uncertainties, one thing is clear: Pro Party remains resolute in its mission, ready to face upcoming challenges and defend its causes, with or without government support.
