Breaking News: Komjen Polri Announces Dismissal of Senior Officer Following Malaysia National Alleged Assault at DWP 2024
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — The Indonesia National Police (Polri) has dismissed a senior officer, Kombes Donald Parlaungan Simanjuntak, following an alleged assault on a Malaysian national during the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) 2024 event. The news was announced by Kompolnas M Choirul Anam at a discipline hearing held on Tuesday, December 31.
The dismissal was not given with honor (PTDH) and was part of the results from the discipline hearing for violations of the police code of ethics and profession (KEPP). A similar sanction was also imposed on the Head of the Narcotics Division of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub Directorate of Narcotics in the same regional police force is still undergoing the disciplinary process.
The hearing was led by the National Police Professional and Security Division (Propam) regarding 18 police officers allegedly involved in the incident. The event turned heated when 45 Malaysian nationals were allegedly assaulted while enjoying the DWP 2024 concert. Approximately Rp2.5 billion worth of seized items were involved in the case.
Prior to this disciplinary action, Donald was relieved of his duties as the Director of the Narcotics Reskrim of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. He was reassigned to the position of Analyst of Strategic Studies at the PoliceMadya ranks in the Police Education, Training, and Education Center (PPPKP Polri).
Earlier, the Jakarta Regional Police Chief, Irjen Karyoto, had removed 34 officers from the Narcotics Division following the incident involving Malaysian nationals at the DWP 2024 event. The transfer of these officers, from the rank of middle Mid-level (Pamen) to First-level (Pama) and Sergeant, was documented in Telegram Surat ST/429/XII/KEP.2024 dated December 25, 2024.
Upon investigation, a total of 45 Malaysian nationals were identified as victims of alleged assault during the DWP 2024 event. The total value of seized items in the case has reached Rp2.5 billion. The suspects have been subjected to special placement (Patsus) under the Propam Polri. The motive behind the assault is still under investigation, as the perpetrators came from different working units.
