Crews have worked daily since July 5 to clear heavy debris and repair infrastructure following a destructive summer storm.
Storm Recovery Timeline and Course Repairs
Severe weather struck the Valley region in July, causing widespread flooding and dropping trees across the property. According to Aaron Young, the storm damaged buildings, tees, and course grounds, and a fallen tree even destroyed one of the facility’s golf carts. Initial estimates suggested the property might remain closed through Thanksgiving or the end of the regular golf season. However, cleanup crews cleared the damage expeditiously, prompting Young to move the target reopening window up by nearly a month and a half. Aside from West Golf Drive and the golf course itself, all other park areas currently remain open to the public.
Fall Wildlife and Deer Management Implementation
According to Aaron Young, the Board of Directors will implement the White-tailed Deer Management Plan again this fall to aid in the betterment of the MetroParks. Route 224.
