Ukrainians Amass 436 Million Hryvnias in Four Months with "National Cashback" Program

In just four months of operation, the "National Cashback" program has seen Ukrainian participants accrue a substantial 436 million hryvnias, marking an 180 million hryvnia increase from the previous month. The program, designed to incentivize domestic spending and support local producers, has shown steady growth, attracting a broader age range, particularly senior citizens.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Julia Svyrydenko, highlighted the program’s success, stating, "National Cashback" isn’t just helping consumers; it’s creating additional impetus for Ukrainians to buy homegrown products, thereby bolstering national production."

Participants’ Activity: A Generational Breakdown

  • Young adults under 45 account for 57.4% of the program’s users.
  • Those aged 45 to 60 make up 22.4%.
  • Senior citizens, aged 60 and above, contribute 20.2%.
  • Women constitute 62.3% of the total participants.

How to Claim Cashback

The "National Cashback" program offers a 10% refund on purchases of Ukrainian goods listed in its special registry. Users can verify a product’s eligibility by scanning its barcode using the "Diyia" app. Participating stores mark qualifying items with special signs on shelves and storefronts.

Where to Spend Cashback

Cashback can be used to pay for:

  • Communal and medical services
  • Education, transport, mobile communications, and insurance
  • Ukrainian-produced books and other goods
  • Medicines and medical devices
  • Charity and contributions to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Since its launch, the program has garnered support from leading national retailers, pharmaceutical chains, gas stations, and over 1,600 producers. Additionally, 17 banks now back the initiative, including prominent ones like PrivatBank, Monobank, Ukrgasbank, Oschadbank, and others.
