U.S. Nanny Slain in New Orleans Mass Shooting: Confessed ISIS Supporter Identified
Article:
In a horrifying turn of events, a day that began like any other for the families of New Orleans ended in tragedy as a mass shooting claimed the life of a 31-year-old British woman, Edwards. The devastated community is reeling from the senseless act, while the royal family and Prince William, who Edwards had looked after as a nanny since 1993, mourn the loss of a beloved member of their inner circle.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Petifer family and all the innocent people affected by this heinous attack," said Prince William, paying tribute to Edwards who was like a daughter and friend to the royal family.
The Petifer family remembers Edwards as a "remarkable daughter, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend to many." Their condolence message echoed the sentiments of countless lives upended by the tragic event, stating, "Our thoughts are with the other families who have lost their loved ones in this horrific attack. We urgently ask that the family be allowed privacy during this difficult time."
The Orleans Parish coroner attributed Edwards’ death to gunshot wounds, labeling the shooting a "horrific crime." The shooting left many injured, with several still undergoing treatment in intensive care units.
Investigators quickly identified the shooter as 42-year-old U.S. citizen Shamsuddin Jabbars from Texas. A real estate agent with a military background, Jabbars allegedly expressed his support for ISIS in video messages uploaded before the attack. "I initially intended to target my own family, but that wouldn’t have properly demonstrated the war between the faithful and the non-believers," he stated in one chilling clip.
Among the victims were notable figures including a promising American college football player, a medical student, and a young mother. The community is now rallying behind their families, providing support and solace in the face of such unwarranted violence.
As the investigation into the shooting unfolds, the public awaits more answers surrounding the motiveless attack. For now, the city of New Orleans stands united in grief, remembrance, and a collective call for action against such hateful, unprovoked violence.
