In an incident captured on security cameras, two men equipped with hammers and knives successfully targeted and damaged internet cables, plunging residents into a modern-age dark age just before Christmas Eve. The brazen act of sabotage has left residents frustrated and concerned for their personal safety.
One affected resident recounted the ordeal: "It happened on December 24th, a little before 11 PM. That’s when our internet signal went out. After dinner, we went out to investigate and spotted two individuals. We recognized one of them, Kalin, who lives on the third floor. The other one, Ludmil, we only know by name."
The man shared that upon reviewing the security footage, they witnessed the duo using hammers and knives to pry open and damage the internet cables. The very next day, at around 4:50 AM, they watched in astonishment as the culprits proceeded to destroy the building’s security camera. The resident highlighted, "We’ve agreed to have the entrance equipped with CCTV. I’ve already filed complaints with the police for the damages to the internet cable and the camera."
This, unfortunately, is not the first incident of vandalism in the building. The same resident admitted, "I had previously installed a camera in the entrance of my basement due to someone tampering with the main lock. In the footage, it was clear that Kalin was the one responsible for that."
The repairs for the damaged internet cable are estimated to cost around 170 BGN, a bill that will be shouldered by the apartment block’s residents. As the new year approaches, residents are appealing for authorities to take immediate action to ensure their safety and the protection of their property.
